Sept. 26th
Welcome back for Quarter #2! Ms. Wade and I are so excited to get moving with our second quarter units related to Force & Motion, Informational/Nonfiction text reading, Revolutionary War, Fractions, and Decimals. The Book Fair is here until Friday, October 4th and our Fun Run activities will start at the end of the month. Our overnight field trip is coming up October 28-30th and we'd like to host a parent session to answer any questions and touch base with our chaperones on October 22nd at 4:05pm. We hope you can make it! It sounds like we'll have some new reading initiatives coming out to motivate kids. The Carolina Hurricanes usually have a partnership to look forward to, and the Carolina Panthers have shared their "3rd and Goal" link that features players reading aloud some favorite books. Be sure to check it out!

August 13th Parent Curriculum Night
Session #1 5:30-6:10pm
Session #2 6:15-6:55pm
Please make plans to attend (without your child, if possible) in order to learn about the Human Growth unit, our overnight field trip, and our curriculum plans for the year. Ms. Wade and I look forward to seeing you!
August 15th Fall Picture Day
June 2019: I am so excited to start a new year in fifth grade! I hope everyone received their Supply List in the report card envelopes. If not, please refer to this document link to ensure your child gets off to a great start on July 9th! A little surprise that we've been saving for this class: We will welcome Ms. Wade as our Student Teacher for the first semester (see her note to you, below). I know that Ms. Wade will bring an amazing energy to our classroom learning environment, and the idea that these kiddos will have two adults in the room who care about them and their progress is a definite reason to celebrate. More information to come home during the first week of school...
Note from Ms. Wade:
I am very excited to be a student teacher in your child's classroom this year! I am currently finishing up earning my MAT in elementary education at NC State. I also attended NC State in undergrad and have a bachelors of science in biology. Go Wolfpack!
Working with kids has always been a passion of mine and I am so glad that I finally decided to make it a career. My love for teaching grew from my love of coaching swimming. You can always find me near the water, whether it is at a pool, the beach, or walking around Lake Johnson. Aside from swimming, I typically spend my free time baking or getting outside and hiking some of the local trails.
I am looking forward to getting to know each of your children this year. I will be with your class for 16 weeks, through the second quarter!
